Sta. Rosa, Laguna: Enchanted Kingdom in Black and White

I always knew that Enchanted Kingdom would be a great place for some random people photography. So I grabbed my camera and went straight to the South.

All photos were taken using my camera and kit lens (18-55mm 3.5-5.6 STM). I have just started with photography and I struggled most of the time trying to find the right mix of exposures while I was taking the photos.

Plane ride. 55 mm 1/100 f/5.6 ISO 200
Quick nap. 35mm 1/100 f/5.6 ISO 200

People and street photography is something that spurred my interest in photography. Random and candid shots are really good to look at. It's as if each photo is telling you a very interesting story.

Grin. 55mm 1/250 f/5.6 ISO 400
Sunshine on the face. 38mm 1/200 f/5.6 ISO 400
Mexican dancer. 55mm 1/100 f/5.6 ISO 200
At some point, I felt a little frustrated. I thought there were a lot of scenes that I should have captured if I had a better camera and a better lens.

But I still kept on shooting.

Riding a dino. 46mm f/5.6 1/250 ISO 400
Peripheral vision. 48mm f/5.6 1/25 ISO 1250
Contrast of emotions. 55mm f/5.6 1/25 ISO 100
I waited for the "decisive moments" to come. The thrill was just ecstatic. Not all shots were perfect though. But I guess it doesn't matter as long as you continue waiting for the right moment to come.

Generation gap. 55mm f/5.6 1/80 ISO 640
Pure joy. 55mm f/5.6 1/80 ISO 800
Hello Kitty. 47mm f/5.6 1/100 ISO 200
Aside from randomness and being candid, the idea of movement is also something that I love about people and street photography. It's like you feel and sense that there's movement, even though it is just a still photo.

Sweeper. 46mm f/5.6 1/200 ISO 100
Stroller. 29mm f/4.0 1/80 ISO 200
Trolley. 40mm f/5.0 1/100 ISO 500
Four feet. 48mm f/5.6 1/250 ISO 200

There were times that I had to come closer to my subjects to really get the shot, and I got suspicious looks because of that.

Smartphone. 28mm f/4.0 1/25 ISO 500
Window of an innocent soul. 27mm f/4.0 1/25 ISO 1000
Cat's ears. 55mm f/5.6 1/250 ISO 400

One lesson that I learned while shooting these images is that you should always have the patience to wait for something worthwhile.

Patience. 40mm f/8 1/200 ISO 200
Patience. 50mm f/5.6 1/100 ISO 400
Patience. 55mm f/5.6 1/100 ISO 200
And one more thing, there's always safety in numbers.

Diana. 50mm f/8 1/100 ISO 100
Alpha female. 55mm f/7 1/250 ISO 200

I surely enjoyed the rides and attractions, but I also enjoyed being a witness to a roller coaster of thoughts and emotions in this theme park.

  1. Sabi nga nila your photos do not depend on the gear but your imagination. But I agree, working with the kit lens can be pretty difficult. I highly recommend a prime lens like 35mm or 50mm. If you don't have the budget yet, use Lightoom or PS to enhance your photos para mas sharp sila :)
